Richard Hudnut 'DEAUVILLE' Compact Art Deco Compact
A beautiful authentic Art Deco compact. This case was manufactured in 1924 by Theodore W Foster Bros Co of Providence, Rhode Island for Richard Hudnut's Deauville line. The lid & base have a subtle engine turned design with a border of highly stylized laurel leaves. The lid has an oblong cartouche. The underside of the hinged mirror is signed ' DEAUVILLE RICHARD HUDNUT PATENTED DEC 2 24'. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is very good & gives an excellent reflection. The original puff is present & the powder plate still has quite a bit of very pale powder which has the most appealing aroma. On image two the lid of the compact is shown as the middle section as the mirror has been pulled into the open position. In the middle section you will see a charming bezel engraved with scrolls & the RR Richard Hudnut trademark this bezel is an integral part of the closing mechanism.The lid & base have a few tiny hard to see minor dings which are so small they do not detract from this antique vanity.
