This is a very decorative late 19th century chest with superb multi inlaid polished stones and beautiful glass sequin detail which glistens and catches the light beautifully. The chest has a typical Islamic design to the panels with diamond and floret motifs. It has a wonderful golden colour and antique patina and has its original hinges, clasp and side carrying handles. The interior is painted in a lovely warm red oxide shade on gesso.

The chest measures 70 cms wide 42 cms deep by 46 cms high.

A most unusual and rare piece dating from around 1890.

PROVENANCE:
From the residual contents of North Carlton Old Hall Lincolnshire.
