19th century Goffering Flat Iron (or Tally Iron) Complete with Heating Poker

Introduced in the 17th Century an iron like this is used to make the frills and pleats in linen and other fabrics
The iron was heated with a long cylindrical poker which had been heated in the fire
We are lucky here to have both the iron and the poker in good well used condition (virtually indestructible)

In very good and still usable condition, the iron is 6.5” tall, 6” long and 4” wide, the poker is 15” long
