1920s Waltham silver half hunter pocket watch
A 1920s Waltham Traveler silver half hunter pocket watch.
The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed American, Waltham, U.S.A. Traveler. and the serial number 17696101 which dates it back to 1909. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover. The movement is later to the case although the correct movement. ( possibly an old repair )
The watch itself measures 50.4mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside all three covers for Birmingham 1929 with a maker’s mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company… Aaron Dennison had very close connections with Waltham. The case has engine turned detail to both the front and back, and the front has blue enamel filled Roman numerals around the small lens. The case has light surface marks from use but overall it is in nice condition.
The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. The original glasses ones were often replaced with acrylic if they broke because it is a much more durable material and looks so similar.
The dial is in nice condition.
The watch has blued steel hands, including the special hour hand for half hunter watches so that the time can be read even when the front cover is closed.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
