The watch has a nicely jewelled Swiss stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is signed Admiral, 15 jewels, 3 adjustments, Swiss made and the Cyma calibre number 999. It is protected by an inner hinged cover.
Cyma was founded by two brothers, Joseph and Theodore Schwob, in 1862. In 1892 they decided to go into partnership with Frédéric Henri Sandoz, owner of Henri Sandoz et Cie. The Cyma name was officially registered in 1903. Sandoz used the most modern of manufacturing processes and produced very high quality time-pieces, trademarked as Tavannes, Cyma and Cyma Tavannes. Their excellent reputation for quality meant that by 1910, Tavannes / Cyma were one of the largest Swiss watch manufacturers in existence. State, or Stayte, was one of the brand names used by the company.
The watch measures 49.2mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the loop. The case is silver and has Birmingham hallmarks for 1924 with the case makers mark for the Dennison Watch Case Company. It is in nice condition with just light surface marks from use and a couple of mild bruises to the back cover.
The watch has an acrylic lens which is in nice condition.
The dial has a faint hairline crack running from top to bottom although not noticeable to the naked eye but otherwise it is in nice condition.
The watch has blued steel hands.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
