Exceptional mid 18th.c. North Wales oak dresser base c.1740. Of classic North Wales form with three drawers over a two door cupboard. Two plank top and panelled sides. With particularly attractive shaped, raised and fielded panels to the doors and centre. Wonderful character with fabulous colour and patina. According to the previous owner the dresser was used for a time as a shop counter, consequently it has the unique feature of two slits cut in the top to allow coins to be posted directly into the lockable left hand drawer (itself divided into three sections). The handles are period replacements and there is an earlier repair to the front left corner of the top. Otherwise condition is excellent, retaining the original thick oak drawer linings, floor and backboards.
