Workhouse Chest of Drawers

Early 19th century pine chest of drawers standing on bracket feet, all very nice and on its own not an uncommon item. What is of interest is where this piece has spent so much of its working life.
Stamped into one side and again on the back boards are BUCKmUNION 31. This relates to a Buckingham Union House or The Workhouse. This now raises a humble piece of antique furniture to something quite interesting if not thought provoking.
Condition report, this chest displays marks and stains to the wood from use. Originally it would have been painted to disguise the pine wood. This has been removed long ago and waxed however, some traces of the original paint can be seen on the bracket feet. Running repairs have been carried out during its lifetime, noticed on one foot, drawer knobs not matching with a couple missing small sections. Lock to top drawer absent.
With all that said does any of it really matter? We think all of that history just adds to what is a great survivor from a time gone by.
