William Kent - Hen on nest. Staffordshire Pottery
A most charming small model, 'Hen on nest'
In lovely condition showing only a few very tiny little paint chips.
The makers label has been poorly reproduced however enough is shown to clearly identify it's origins
An adorable little model in lovely early colours.
History:
William Kent began his involvement with Staffordshire Ware in 1874 until in 1894 he took ownership of the foundries renaming them to The Novelty Works located at Burslem Staffordshire.
The business grew rapidly, adding more kilns until by 1937 there were seven kilns in total.
Then at the outbreak of WW1 they became a part of the war effort, receiving an 'Essential Work Order' the factories produced
porcelain electrical components.
At the end of the war the business changed it's name to William Kent (Porcelains) Ltd.
By 1962 they ceased production of porcelain figures and continued only the production of electric components.
