William IV Mahogany Breakfront Library Bookcase

An impressive flame mahogany William IV four door library bookcase with fantastic original rich colour and striking grain, it featured lotus bud carvings to the top of tapering flat pilasters to the top and base. With a square cornered moulded stepped breakfront cornice above four open shelved sections, the stepped out base with four fielded slightly Gothic arched panel doors opening to reveal shelved cupboards. All raised on a moulded plinth base. Shelves to upper and base all adjustable in height and able to store a large run of books up to 21.13m / 69ft 3in long.
Super quality & choice of timber suggesting a top cabinetmaker such as Gillows of Lancaster or Trotter of Edinburgh, in good condition with marks consistent with age and use including dark marks to the top surface and a chip to the top edge of the right cornice which has been filled. Some shelf supports have been replaced and the skirting board gap at the back of the base has been closed by the addition of matching timber & mouldings to each side, these can easily be removed if required. Comes with keys for the locks,
