Wedgwood SYP (Simple Yet Perfect) Teapot
A Wedgwood early 20th Century SYP (Simple Yet Perfect) teapot, blue and white transfer printed 'Peony' pattern.
The concept for the design of this teapot was first patented by B H Cochrane in 1901. Inside, a horizontal perforated ledge separates the dry tea from the hot water. Only when the teapot is tilted backwards to rest on the two short legs at the back is the hot water allowed to pass through the perforations and onto the tea leaves. When the tea is brewed, the teapot is set down again onto the base and the tea is ready to be poured through the conventional spout. The separation of the used tea leaves from the prepared tea prevents it from becoming 'stewed'.
The design is such that when tilted back, the lid cannot fall off.
Base is printed and impressed 3UL
The colour and glaze is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. 22cms high
A lovely addition to any collection or to actually use to make a brew! Unless otherwise stated, all our items include postage and packaging in the UK.
Buyers outside the UK need to email us for postage costs before buying.
Only form of payment available is through clicking on the Buy Securely icon. We are not able to process debit/credit card payments over the phone.
If you wish to return any item then you need to advise us via email within 14 days after the day the goods are received and you will need to pay the return postage. On safe receipt of the goods the refund will be made.
