We are delighted to be able to offer for sale this beautiful head and shoulders portrait watercolour of a young girl wearing a gold locket, by an unknown artist. This painting is presented in a gilt mount, within a wonderfully ornate gilt frame, which is mounted on a swept burgundy velvet surround and boxed in an ebonised frame with the original glass.

The young girl, probably in her early teens, has her fair hair loose, bound with a deep pink ribbon. She is wearing a blue dress, with lace trim and has a gold locket on a black ribbon around her neck. The painting has been executed superbly and it is a great shame that the artist did not sign his or her work.

This is a beautiful item in a superb frame and would be a great addition to any collection of Victorian art.
