We are delighted to offer for sale this lovely oil on canvas by the artist Walter Robin Jennings, who has signed the painting W. R. Jennings in the lower left hand corner and dated it 1972. The artist has kindly inscribed the location on the back on the canvas as Enville Estate (Enville is between Stourbridge and Bridgenorth, Nr. Kinver) and entitled it 'The Edge of the Wood'. The painting depicts a group of ponies standing just beneath the trees at the edge of a wood, watching two riders in the middle distance. The whole landscape is covered in a blanket of snow and there are rooks circling overhead.

Walter Robin Jennings 1927-2005 was born in Dudley, Staffordshire and was an active artist throughout most of his working life. He was a landscape and animal painter, primarily in oil and exhibited widely. His work has been reproduced in card form by Medici, Royle and Solomon & Whitehead. He sadly died in Kiderminster in 2005.

There is one of his paintings in the National Collection and can be viewed at Dudley Museum.
