Walnut bookcase/cabinet Howard & Sons
A rather special walnut bookcase cabinet by top cabinet makers and upholsterers Howard and Sons. This has three adjustable shelves on each side behind the glazed doors. The glass in these doors being bevelled, indicating the quality of this piece of antique furniture. The centre blind doored section has three sliding press shelves and a single lower shelf. It is in original cleaned condition other than the very top which we have re French polished to remove some scuffing.
Howard and Sons were cabinet makers of high repute based in Berners Street, London and were holders of a Royal Warrant.
This particular item came from Carnfield Hall in South Normanton and we can supply some documentary detail as to the history of the hall. The vendors suggest this item as being 1880 we might suggest a tiny bit later. This cabinet still carries the paper label to the rear and the cabinet stamp on the top of a door as per picture..........Reserved...............
