Walnut & Marble Top Chest of Drawers c.1840.
Beautiful early 19th.c. French Louis Philippe marble top chest of drawers c.1840. Fabulous and original inch-thick grey marble top over four drawers. Shallow top drawer with a shaped front and internal dividers over three deeper drawers set within a moulded border and featuring exceptional symmetrically arranged burr walnut veneers and decorative brass handles. Moulded plinth and original turned front feet. Chestnut drawer linings. Original locks with amazing trefoil pins at the centre. Though the handles are a later addition, the shadows to the polish behind would suggest they have been on there for a long time. Note one backplate and one grip are of slightly different design. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Key supplied for the top drawer.
