This is a vintage surveyor's level. An English, brass and alloy theodolite, perfect as desk ornament by E.R. Watts of London, dating to the mid 20th century, circa 1940.
Charming, vintage scientific instrument, pleasingly heavy at 2.75kg (6.06 lb)
Displays a desirable aged patina
Black lacquered brass with alloy fixtures in good order
Adjusts in vertical, horizontal and diagonal directions
Rotating upon a 360-degree turntable podium
Objective element measures 35mm (1.5")
Vernier wheel in brass to the primary barrel
Vertical adjustment with a knurled control dial
