Victorian Walnut Wardrobe by S.J Waring

A truly magnificent piece of high quality Victorian antique furniture, featuring a large and impressive cornice, with decoration to front this is positioned above a large, central mirrored door, and flanked by two panelled and intricately carved side doors. These doors are all fitted with their original brass handles, and open up to reveal pull out slides to right hand side, and large hanging area to left hand side. As you can see from the photographs, this wardrobe does not have a hanging rail fitted, but this could easily be rectified. The wardrobe sits upon two large mahogany lined drawers all fitted with their original brass handles, and this piece is completed with bracket feet.
As you can see, the locks are stamped with ‘S.J Waring & Sons’, which is a renowned cabinet maker from Liverpool who have produced many pieces of quality antique furniture for the Royal Family. This company merged with ‘Gillows’ in the 19th Century, and continued to produce fine pieces of antique furniture. This item was originally purchased from Barker’s Depository, Kensington, which has now sadly shut down.
This exquisite wardrobe breaks down into five pieces for ease of transportation and reassembly. It is in outstanding condition for its age, but sadly, the locks do not work, and there is a minute amount of foxing to the mirror.
This truly is an outstanding piece of quality Victorian furniture.
