Victorian Walnut Pier Cabinet
This is a very handsome Victorian Walnut Pier Glass Cabinet, dating to the mid 19th Century.
It is in excellent condition and has been made with carefully chosen figured walnut veneers that have mellowed to a beautiful soft honey colour.
The cabinet work is quality, and the marquetry inlay is crisp and well executed.
The plinth has a chamfered top edge all around and is nicely veneered in straight grain walnut also.
Finished with a gilt brass beaded edge to the cornice and cast gilded brass mounts also
Original Lock and Key. Replaced escutcheon.
Inside, the cabinet has been newly lined in soft grey baize cloth.
Dimensions:
30 inches wide, 12.75 inches deep, 39 inches high
The shelves are 7.5 inches deep and in fixed positions (although it would be very easy to change the positions if needed).
Shelf heights: Bottom 12.25 inches, Middle 9.25 inches, Top 11.5 inches.
A wine bottle will fit on the bottom and top shelves.
Max inside cabinet depth 10 inches
