This is a set of 4 Victorian, antique dining chairs dating back to the 19th century.

The dark Japanned, lacquered, frames are beautifully highlighted with mother of pearl inlaid garlands, foliate and floral detail accentuated by gold leaf highlights.

The splayed tapering and turned front legs and circular section rear are united by a box stretcher with the fore most delicately turned. The pinched stiles rise into the shaped crest rail above the swagged splat.

In proportion to the construct, the caned seat is held within a formed frame at a comfortable height. Bergere cane seating in good order save for some expected sag consistent with use in two of the chairs.

A beautiful set of chairs with solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
