A fine and beautifully decorated Victorian Sampler. the sampler is centered around a verse 'The Wish' with birds and flowers, typical alphabet and numbers. The sampler is by Eliza A Johnson, aged 10, and dated 1859. The border is a wonderful geometric pattern of flowers. The sampler is all silk needlework on a linen back and the colours remain bright. The sampler has no holes, a little discolouration, and slight loss to one or two flowers in the bottom of the border, but overall is in excellent condition. The sampler is mounted in the original painted frame, which has been painted to look like walnut.
