Victorian Ruby snake ring, 9ct gold
An impeccable antique, Mid Victorian Ruby snake ring.
Coils and coils of rich buttery 9ct, antique yellow gold forming the entwined bodies of two snakes, the heads are both well detailed and both set with a gorgeous rich reddish Pink antique Ruby.
The rubies are both a good size with a beautiful hue, they have not been tested for heat, approx 1.10ct collective weight, estimated in setting.
This is a substantial piece, the coiled body with a good heavy weight to it, exceptionally well made and an unusual large size so suitable for men and those with larger finger sizes.
The snake ring was catapulted into popularity when Queen Victoria received a snake ring from her beloved Albert.
Fully hallmarked for London 1860, 9ct gold.
Condition:
Very Good used condition overall, light wear to the band at the very top, minor surface wear, commensurate with age, rubies in good condition, strong in the settings.
