Victorian Oak Small Chest of Two Over Two Drawers
This attractive chest of drawers looks to date from the mid-nineteenth century, although it is in the earlier Georgian style. It is constructed from solid oak and consists of two small drawers over two longer drawers. The chest is supported on shaped bracket feet. It retains brass handles, and the long drawers retain locks and escutcheons, but please note that no keys are present.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing, knocking, marking and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall quite badly faded. It would benefit from a careful clean and wax. There is some wood shrinkage splitting to the sides and top. The drawers are a little stiff. There are some signs of woodworm damage, primarily to the left-hand side - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution.
