Victorian Oak Extending Dining Table, Two Leaves
Antique Victorian 1880 Quality Solid Oak Extending Dining Table With Two Removable Leaves And Handle.
Oak Victorian extending wind out dining table of good size, would seat a large family when fully open. Will seat 10 -12.
Made by the world famous S & H Jewell, who were fine quality cabinet makers established in 1830. They were a family business who worked from their premises at 29-31 Little Queen Street, Holborn, in London and then later to Parker Street, London. W.C.2.
The table is in super condition and is ready for any home or office. The dining table has no major cracks to the top and all leg joints are firm. Under frame has nice moulding to edge.
The polish is in superb condition with no deep scratches or ring marks. We have cleaned and waxed it, so fully ready to use.
Dates to 1880.
The table top has canted corners and a superb moulded edge. Beautiful Victorian solid wood hand made by master craftsmen of the time. A very solid table that has stood the test of time due to its workmanship.
The tops have a nice medium golden Oak colour, very even across the whole top and leaves. The table top displays impressive medullary rays in the timber.
The table is very level across its length when fully extended, it opens and closes as you would expect.
The table winder thread is made by Joseph Fitter of Birmingham as shown.
No woodworm can be seen. With over 40yrs. experience in antique furniture restoration. This table is in super condition.
The legs are a classic turned shape with nice carved reeded detail. They are fitted with a set of original brown china wheel castors.
Table has great height and leg room.
The table is a wind out to increase its length, you can add the two leaves or just one. The two leaves are 100% original to the table. The table can then be closed down when more space is required making it very adaptable for you family or office requirements. The table is level across its length when fully extended, as can be seen in pictures.
As with any vintage/antique item, there will be some signs of usage and age related wear and tear only to be expected. I am sure the new owner will be delighted with this table.

Fully open length 94 5/8" (240.5 cms)
