This is a very good quality period breakfront library bookcase. It is made in solid oak and is Victorian, dating to around 1880. What I like about this bookcase is that it has small proportions for this type of antique furniture. It is only six feet wide so will not overpower your space but at the same time is very grand looking. I also like that the side cabinets on the top are open and not designed to be enclosed by glass. This makes it much more intimate and so much less formal. This is a very good piece.

The Library bookcase has a cavetto cornice above. The central doors are glazed with adjustable shelves inside. These are flanked by open spaces with adjustable shelves. Below, the cupboards have panelled doors with locks and key and are shelved. It stands on a plinth base.

The Library bookcase is in good condition. The oak is well polished and there is no sign of worm or repair. Cut outs for skirting on the base.

This is a very impressive piece of furniture. It will look very dignified when filled with books and objet d'art. The bookcase can be used in a home library or study or a principal room but could also be used as a housekeepers cupboard in a large country kitchen.

The bookcase breaks down for ease of transport.

The library bookcase is 60.5 inches high and 72 inches wide.
