Victorian Mahogany Writing Table Desk
This attractive antique writing table dates from approx. 1870 and is constructed from what we believe to be solid mahogany. It is of a nice size and has two drawers beneath the top which retain most of their original lining. The drawers have turned wooden handles which are later replacements. The piece is supported nice turned legs.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded. There is some quite heavy scuffing and scratching to the top, and a wood shrinkage split to the top on the right-hand side. The original drawer linings are worn with some loss. There are some signs of old woodworm to the drawers - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. As is mentioned above the drawer handles are modern replacements.
