Victorian Flame Mahogany Kneehole Desk
This lovely antique desk dates from around the 1840s, although please note that the top may be a later replacement. It is constructed from what we believe to be mainly solid mahogany with lovely flame mahogany veneers. It has a cupboard on either side (both with doors with false drawer fronts, twist supports, and central kneehole cupboard with a serpentine-fronted drawer above. It is supported on a plinth base with castors. All three cupboards have a single removable shelf inside.
Condition: Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall a little faded. Please note that we believe that the top is probably a replacement, and that it is made of stained pine rather than mahogany. The top is scratched and worn and has some woodworm damage - this is not active but has been retreated as a precaution. The front castors are also more recent replacments. There is some knocking and wear around the edges and some loss to the veneer in places.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 77cm high, 154.5cm wide, 58.5cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
