Victorian Etched Glass & Silver Plate Preserve Pot
This is an attractive late Victorian Etched Glass Preserve Pot with a Silver Plated Lid & Spoon. The preserve pot is in the aesthetic style with an etched fern design all the way around the body. The base is star cut and the top has a silver plated rim and lid. It comes with a silver plated jam spoon with an acanthus leaf finial.
The pot is marked for the silversmiths and electroplaters Pinder Brothers of Sheffield and dates to around the 1890s. The spoon has a registered design number dating it to the same period. They may not have always been together but they make a very suitable pairing.
Condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the glass and no significant plate loss to the rim, lid or spoon. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The pot stands 12.4cm / 4.9ins high and is 8.1cm / 3.2ins in diameter. The jam spoon is 13.7cm / 5.4ins long. All together they weigh in at 398g / 14oz.
The underside of the lid is marked P BROS & EPNS for Pinder Brothers and silver plate. The spoon has the registered design number 265922, which dates the design to 1896.
