Victorian Camphorwood Campaign Chest
Victorian camphorwood campaign chest
This Victorian camphorwood campaign chest was made circa 1870 and would have been purchased by a commissioned officer for transporting his uniforms and precious items to where he was to serve.
These Campaign chests were constructed in Camphorwood as the oils are a deterrent to insects.
The brass corners were added for strength and protection for the chests travels around the world.
The lid lifts to reveal full storage of the interior and the release of the delicate perfume of the camphorwood.
Imagine the stories this Camphorwood chest could tell of its journeys on wagons and ships into war zones and uprisings as it was transported to the far reaches of the world.
These make fantastic coffee antique tables as well as being used as storage/blanket boxes or even TV stands.
