Victorian Bow-Fronted Mahogany Chest of Drawers
This lovely antique chest of drawers dates from approx. the 1860s. It is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. It is of large proportions and consists of two small drawers over four long grauated drawers. The drawers have antique but replacement brass handles with lion-head roundels in the middle. All the drawers except for the top long drawer retain their locks, but please note that no key is present. The drawers retain their original blue lining. The chest is supported on a plinth base that may be a later replacement / addition.
Condition: Overall this is an attractive piece, but is in need of some restoration. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected and the piece is overall faded, patchily so the front. There is some knocking around the edges and some loss to the veneer in places. There is some loss to the cock-beading around the drawers. There is some scratching to the top. The handles are tarnished and dirty. The drawers are stiff and the drawer runners would benefit from some attention. One of the locks is missing. Please note that we believe that the base may be a later replacment / addition. The backboard is a little loose at one end.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Overall - 111cm high, 105cm wide, 54cm deep (to maximums). Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
