Victorian Ash And Elm Country Kitchen Armchair
This is a very good period farmhouse kitchen chair. The chair is mid Victorian, dating to around 1870 and is of particularly fine quality. The chair is made mainly in Elm. Elm is a beautiful wood, full of striations. The chair has a shaped crest rail and turned ash and elm spindles. The saddle seat is in elm, as are the arms and supports. The legs too are turned elm.
The chair is a good large size and the wood is well polished and there is little sign of damage or repair. One old repair to a riser - you won't spot it. No worm.
This chair is a cut above most chairs of its date and type. It could be used in a kitchen but has enough presence to be used in a sitting room or hallway. Good thing.
The chair back is 43 inches high and the seat is 17 inches high and it is 25 inches across from outside arm to outside arm.
