Victorian Aesthetic Movement Pitch Pine Bedside
A late Victorian bedside cabinet in solid pitch pine, enriched with delicate geometric boxwood-and-ebonised inlay and a hand-painted faux-pollard oak panel to the door.
The form is simple, with a moulded top, plinth base and panel door, yet the piece reflects the Aesthetic Movement’s refined approach to domestic design, where beauty was expressed through proportion and surface detail rather than ostentation. Inlaid borders, the contrast of the faux-grained panel and an original brass drop handle lend a distinctly characterful presence.
Presented in very good antique condition with an attractive aged patina, a historic repair to the top and minor wear consistent with age. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
