A pair of art pottery hand sculpted figures of a heraldic lion and unicorn.

These beautiful hand sculpted pottery heraldic figures of a lion and unicorn are most unusual. They are of European manufacture and were most likely made as one-off individual pieces as there is a slight difference in the design of the bases.

Each figure has been finely modelled with great detail and finished with an interesting mottled salt glaze in a varying palette of pale olive to brown.

These very decorative figures are not signed but I would feel most likely German, circa 1940/60.

They are in excellent original condition.

Unicorn height 29cm x width 18cm x depth 15cm
Lion height 28cm x width 12cm x depth 11cm
