Superb Walnut and Gilded Bookcase
An exceptional quality, very tall, London made burr walnut bookcase from the Victorian period, of shallow inverted breakfront form with 4 shaped and arched doors and full width drawer. Base doors with burr walnut panels, the top doors with original plate mirror and good quality mahogany backing. The cornice has a pierced and carved crown with gilded decoration. The door mouldings, styles, corbel carvings, drawer and plinth all with original subtle gilding. Locks by "Hobbs + Co" with original key. This fine Victorian bookcase bears the brass plaque of the maker " Hewetson & Milner, The Exchange, 211, 212 Tottenham Court Road" London.
In superb original condition with 2 slight speckled spots on right hand door mirror (visible on photos).
