Superb Maple & Co.Satinwood & Marquetry wardrobe
SUPERB quality and condition Edwardian period three door satinwood and marquetry inlaid wardrobe by MAPLE & Co. of LONDON & PARIS. This very beautiful wardrobe is a great design and is in very good all original condition. The marquetry inlaid panels to both end doors are especially nice and the architectural type dentil cornice with swan neck pediment is also a great touch.
The form of the wardrobe is three doors with three drawers beneath, the central door with original bevelled mirror. The left hand side is full length hanging with a patent extending pull out hanging mechanism so clothes can be moved outside the wardrobe for ease of choosing and removing. The central section is fully fitted inside with three trays and two deep drawers. The right hand side is 3/4 length hanging with a lift up lid hat store beneath.
There is a bone makers label attached to the inside of the middle door and the bottom two end drawers are both stamped MAPLE & Co. on the top edge.
The wardrobe breaks down into 5 sections for ease of moving and once all section are in place is all screwed together.
The condition of this piece is first class, the only slight wear I can see is on the corners of the plinth at the base.
One of the nicest Edwardian wardrobes we have seen for quite some time, made by one of the top cabinet making firms of the time.
SIZES 6 foot wide by 21 1/2" deep by 8 foot high at the highest point. (please note the central swan neck pediment could be removed as it is just screwed on, this would bring the height down to 88")
