This fine 19th-century Sunderland lustre plaque, circa 1830–1860, is in excellent condition with no restoration, chips or cracks. It features the bold biblical inscription “Prepare to Meet Thy God” within a floral wreath and a trumpet sounding flying angel.
Highly collectible, this antique ceramic plaque was produced in the North East of England and is a striking example of religious pottery from the Victorian era. The appealing pink lustre border, a hallmark of Sunderland pottery, adds distinct period charm.
These plaques were often displayed in homes as moral reminders.
This is an ideal piece for collectors of religious antiques, English ceramics, or Sunderland lustreware. A rare and evocative piece of historical pottery with strong decorative and devotional value.
