Stunning Japanese Porcelain Imari 'Geisha' Charger
A Stunning Antique Japanese Porcelain Charger Dish
Date: late 19th - Early 20th Century.
A wonderful Japanese charger, richly decorated in the Imari palette combining iron red, vivid cobalt blue and exquisite gilded highlights. This example is further embellished with overglaze polychrome enamels in blue, green and aubergine.
The vast central field depicting a tea ceremony with Geisha and attendant, in a garden setting and amid trailing wisteria flowers. The broad rim with three panels depicting trees set against a ground of formal flower designs and diaper.
The underside with three large floral sprays.
This really is a superb example of its kind and it presented in pretty much immaculate condition, with only very minor rubbing to the gilded rim. All other components, including the gilding to the central field is perfect. Very hard to find with such minimal wear.
Perfect as a centrepiece or hung on the wall. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research. We are very happy to provide complete and exacting condition reports (together with further photographs, where necessary) and encourage buyers to request this information prior to purchase.
Accepted payment methods are via paypal, bank transfer, personal cheque or cash.
Viewing of any item in person, prior to purchase, is always welcomed by appointment.
