This is a fabulous late 19th century Anglo Indian Bombay Sofa in beautifully hand carved “Dalbergia Latifolia” or Indian Rosewood, dating from around 1870. The sofa has incredible detail to the stunning double arch back shape and wonderful carved shaped frieze to the front. The separate lift out seat has been reupholstered in this delightful fabric which compliments the piece beautifully. This is raised on carved cabriole legs that retain their original castors.
A most impressive piece measuring 90 cms high by 168 cms long by 80 cms deep. The cushion itself measures 140 cms wide by 52 cms deep and is 40 cms from the floor.
