Staffordshire / Scottish Agateware onion money box.
An unusual money box which dates from the Early to Mid-Victorian period, circa 1840.
Probably made in one of the Scottish potteries, but could even be from one of the many Staffordshire pottery of the time.
An agate clay has been used which is a combination of both terracotta and white earthenware clay. This gives a marbled effect which can be seen in the photograph of the underneath of the onion.
In very good condition with only minor markings to the slot, where someone had tried to get at the cash by using a knife.
It stands 3.75 inches or 9.5 centimeters tall and has a maximun diameter of 3.25 inches.
UK quality packaging and first class post is £8.00. For international shipping, please contact us for a price.
We want our customers to be satisfied with their purchases, so we offer a money back guarantee. Items must be returned within 14 days and in the same condition as sent. Please note that postage and shipping costs are non-refundable.
