Solid Mahogany Twin Pillar Dining Table, c.1920

A twin pedestal solid mahogany extending dining table in the Regency taste, English and probably dating to the first part of the 20th century. This lovely examples has the more desirable & stable four legs to the pedestals and can seat up to 8 with the extra leaf in place or 4-6 closed. When not in use the table can be used as a pair of side antique tables. With a reeded edge to the rounded rectangular top it stands on turned columns with quadripartite splayed reeded legs with brass caps and castors. The leaf extends the table from 5ft 1/2in to 6ft 6 1/2in and is supported by rotating supports and brass clips.
In good condition and recently repolished by hand using traditional French polish and wax, with solid joints and construction, some minor fading and signs of age as to be expected. These are the most practical dining antique tables to sit at as the legs to get in the way of guests.
Length extended with leaf - 78.5in (199.5cm)
Length without leaf - 60.5in (153.5cm)
Width - 41.9in (106.5cm)
Height - 28.5in (72.5cm)
Leaf - 18.25in (46.5cm)
Legroom - 27.7in (70cm)
