An impressive fully hallmarked 9 carat gold locket necklace. This splendid locket was assayed (tested for purity) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1918. Crafted by Henry Matthews this piece is ornamented with paisley print style engravings. The shield cartouche symbolises the desire of the donor to protect the wearer of this locket. The shield is engraved with initials which are open for interpretation. They could appear to be the following combinations T W, F W or J W. The catches and hinges work perfectly.

This locket is suitable for two photos.
