Solid Gold Hallmarked Locket Necklace
An elaborately ornamented solid gold locket of the highest quality. This antique was assayed (tested for gold purity) at Birmingham Assay Office in 1919. The locket is so much more beautiful than the images show. The most accurate representations of how this locket appears are the on the mannequin and in the antique jewellery case.
The anterior surface of this locket is framed by a finely executed acanthus leaf, a single forget-me-not and a cartouche in the form of a scroll.
The posterior surface is stamped with full sets of hallmarks framed by a splendid acanthus leaf.
The scroll cartouche symbolises the quality of wisdom.
Acanthus leaves symbolise the desire for longevity.
Forget-me-not flowers are depicted to portray the feelings of true love and respect.
The hinge and catch work perfectly.
The original solid gold frames are present along with a with two clear portrait protectors.
The belcher chain necklace measures 18 inches long.
This beautiful antique is ideal for everyday wear.
This locket is suitable to hold locks of hairs, miniature paintings or photographs.
