Late Georgian Welsh oak box settle c.1780. Useful small size, just four feet wide. Three raised and fielded panels to the backrest with a simple moulded detail to the surrounding rails and mullions. Shaped arms with rounded ends. Note how the upper portion of the front stiles is reduced in thickness and chamfered to form the supports for the arms. Board seat lifting to reveal useful storage inside for boots and shoes etc. Oak panelled front and sides below the seat. Excellent colour and condition with old repairs to the bottom of the stiles, later hinges and floor boards. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
