Regency Open Cabinet - Slate Shelf - c1830

This Regency period open bookcase is crafted in mahogany and presented nicely.

Twin brass-capped columns flank an open cabinet which benefits from a solid slate shelf at the mid-point. Above the bookcase/display area there is a useful drawer with flame veneer front and oak drawer linings.

A quartered and cross banded top surface sits over the whole. The stepped front design give the piece a charming feel.

Overall this is a very nice item of antique furniture that is in good antique order throughout. The styling allows the piece to work well in a variety of locations and the compact proportions make this cabinet an unusual find.
