Small 17thC Welsh Oak Spice Cupboard Cabinet
A rare and beautiful hanging spice mural cupboard of delightful small proportions. A lovely honest piece with charming signs of age throughout, is without doubt the oldest one we have seen dating from the mid to late 17thC. It is completely original with only the hinges being 18thC and replacing the original 17thC butterfly ones.
The door with lozenge carving to the inside is original as is the spectacular lock. Drawers are original and well worn as can be seen, knobs are later and most likely replaced ones of a drop type.
With just a very small triangular repair to the top right hand side of the door and some historic worm holes to the inside to mention. The door closes fine but is not flush at the top, to be expected given its age.
Skin, colour and patina are as good as they get and the dimensions are fantastic.
It measures just 38cm wide, 46cm at cornice. 54cm high and 24cm deep, 28cm at cornice
