Slipware Mug
A rather comedic piece of slip ware. A large drinking mug used for celebration, being passed around the table for the toast. At the bottom of the vessel is a frog, which has open eyes and an open (bum hole). The beer would go through the frog and pour out of the eyes once the beer in the mug was low enough. Pouring beer onto the unlucky drinkers face. Probably from South Yorkshire, dated and named. Measures 8.5" high, diameter is just over 8". In good condition with one small chip as shown in the photos. I've not seen slip ware like this before. Lovely treacle glaze
