Silver Plated Butter Dish & Spreader, c.1950s-70s Mid-Century Silver Plate Butter Dish %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is an attractive Vintage Silver Plate Shell Butter Dish with a Frosted Glass Liner and a Spreader. The shell dish has a hinged lid with a thumb rest and the base stands on two bracket legs at the rear. The spreader is in the classic Old English pattern.

There is no makers' mark on either the dish or the spreader so we cannot say who manufactured them but both pieces are stamped EPNS for silver plate and the set dates to between the 1950s and 1970s.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The butter dish measures 11.5cm / 4.5ins by 11.5cm / 4.5ins and stands 5cm / 1.9ins high at the back. It weighs 181g / 6.4oz.
