An exceptional example, this exquisite box is made from English sterling silver fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1913 together with the makers mark for the well renowned silversmith, Levi and Salaman.

The box stands on three sturdy legs terminating in ball and claw feet. The top is framed with a raised beaded border which surrounds a stunning domed piece of period Tortoise Shell with fabulous markings and a range of colours ranging from golden champagne to deep rich chocolate brown.

This domed lid is inlaid with top quality silver pique inlay.

The hinged lid fits well and once opened, the box reveals the original Ivory coloured silk lining in good, clean condition.

A good size, measuring 4 1/2" in diameter and standing 2 1/4" tall.
