Signed Photograph of Earl Mountbatten of Burma
This vintage photograph is of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, Prince Louis of Battenberg (1900-1979) and his wife Edwina Mountbatten (1901-1960). Mountbatten was the last Viceroy of India. The photograph is undated, but looks to date from around the 1950s. It is signed by both Mountbatten and Edwina and retains its tissue-guard. It comes together with a 1956 Christmas card from the couple, although we do not believe the signatures in the Christmas card to be original. Both items came to us from the family of a military officer.
Condition: Overall in fair-good condition with some storage wear consistent with age. fluffy with only a few balding patches. There is some holing to one foot pad. His snout is discoloured. The photograph has some quite heavy foxing and the paper is a little discoloured. It has some minor curving. The tissue-guard is badly creased and foxed. The Christmas card has some marks and wear, but is in overall good condition.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Photograph (sheet) - 28cm by 20cm
Christmas Card - 15.5cm by 18cm. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
Payment can be made by PayPal, bank transfer, cheque [UK only], and cash on collection.
