Sid Tustin Winchcombe Pottery Slipware Milk Jug
A beautiful and early example of a small milk jug, created by Sid Tustin (1913 - 2005) at Winchcombe Pottery, Gloucestershire.
Thrown from the local red clay (earthenware) this jug, of squat form, is covered in a dark and richly-coloured slip, with a trailed pattern of stacked chevrons.
Fully marked with both the impressed seals for Winchcombe Pottery and Sid Tustin, this piece dates to around the 1940s and would have been fired in Winchcombe's historic bottle kiln.
A diminutive piece but of great character and presented in super condition, this is a very worthwhile addition to any collection.

Condition Superb. There is a tiny 'popped bubble' in the glaze on the lip, appearing as a dark spot. Apart from this the jug is immaculate.
