Set Of Eight Captains Dining Chairs
A fine set of eight late 19th cent captains dining chairs. This type of armchair are sometimes known as ‘smoker’s bow chairs’, finding a set of eight is highly unusual. They are made of elm and ash, the scroll backs complete with hand holds are supported by turned supports sitting on a very generously sized seat
The legs are united by turned stretchers. These chairs are very comfortable to sit in and retain all their original surface colour acquired over the years. They are in excellent strong, firm and very sound condition. Sizes: Width: 22”(56cms). Seat depth: 18”(46cms). Height: 30 ½ (77cms). Seat height: 17 ½ “(45cms), Date circa 1880.
I have been in the antiques business since 1962, starting in the family business in Staffordshire.
In the early 1970’s I moved to Hertfordshire where I opened my own business and created a limited company.
Today, my business is carried out via the internet. Any successful antiques business, and particularly mine, remains a way of life and a hobby, it continues to give me enormous enjoyment and satisfaction.
I hope this is reflected by my commitment to a very high quality of service which I have always given over the years. I prefer to deliver sold items in person where possible to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
I source my stock through many contacts built up over the years. This continues to consist of carefully chosen high quality 17th 18th and 19th century of furniture, particularly specialising in articles with their own fine original colour and also many interesting smaller items of the same periods.
I am always very happy to answer any questions or queries that you might have, This is part of the service that I am delighted to give.
