This is a fine quality set of eight late Victorian carved mahogany dining chairs in the style of the Chippendale period having newly upholstered seats, circa 1880.

Description:
This is a fine quality set of eight late Victorian carved mahogany dining chairs in the style of the Chippendale period having newly upholstered seats, circa 1880. The set consists of six side chairs and two armchairs, all of which are crisply carved from fine quality dense dark mahogany. The chairs feature shaped & carved head rails with exquisite pierced floral carved central splats flanked by a scribe moulded chair back frame. The two armchairs boast lovely shaped acanthus leaf carved knuckle arms above shaped vertical supports. The chairs have drop in seats, which have been newly upholstered in top quality hard wearing taupe shade structured wool & cotton upholstery. Elegantly cabriole legs that feature acanthus leaf carvings at the knees, terminate on pronounced ball and claw feet. The backs of the chairs are chamfered this is a sign of top quality. This is a true set of chairs (they have not been matched together from smaller sets of chairs) and they are extremely comfortable. The chairs are also very heavy in weight this is a further sign of quality.
The frames of the chairs feature a rich dark mahogany colour. As they boast the original polish, they have a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and the years of care and cleaning they have received.
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the dining rom or an office boardroom. The chairs would certainly grace any home and are a great investment as they are extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.

This set of chairs is in excellent condition. This is a true set of chairs (they have not been matched together). Nominal old use marks to the leading edges of the chair frames but nothing significant considering the age of them. The seats have been newly upholstered in top quality light taupe shade wool & cotton upholstery. The seats are firm but extremely comfortable. The chairs are heavy in weight, which is another good sign of quality. As this set of chairs retains its original polish, it ensures there is an excellent colour and patination to the timber. This colour can only be found in antique furniture with its original polish it cannot be recreated with new polish. Importantly, there are no breaks to backs, arms or legs of any of the chairs. This set of chairs is well constructed, solid in joint (not loose or wobbly) and ready to use.
